Carlton vs. Hawthorn

The Blues aren’t having the best of luck in the injury stakes, with some casualties not being available for weeks. They will also be missing a big man in Brendan Fevola who has been suspended for two matches. So far they have lacked the dominance they showed in the preseason. There inaccuracy in front of the sticks and their inability to hold up under pressure hasn’t helped their cause. The Hawks were written off at the beginning of the season and have showed much promise but poor execution. They will be trying their hardest to get their second win of the season, and it may just be possible coming up against the undermanned Blues. Prediction-Hawthorn
Melbourne vs. Fremantle

The Dockers are on the road this week as they meet the Demons for some Saturday afternoon football at the MCG. The Dockers haven’t had the best of luck in front of the upright – something the Demons would find hard to understand. They have been lethal all over the field and have successfully converted their hard work to the scoreboard. Most players for both sides will be available for selection giving the coaches selection headaches. The Demons are on fire and should dispose of the Dockers, especially when they’re on the road. Prediction-Melbourne
Adelaide vs. North Melbourne

The Kangaroos are undefeated so far this season and have produced fine game play and win combinations. They have a strong forward line that has been able to get them points on the board – something many other teams are struggling to do. The Crows won’t be happy with their loss last round and will be keen to see some of their star players in Brett Burton and Ben Hart return from injury. The Roos will be looking keep their winning streak alive and remain unbeaten. Prediction-North Melbourne
Essendon vs. Brisbane

The Lions are looking desperate as they sit in bottom spot after only registering one win so far this season. Key forward Jonathan Brown will return from suspension this week, which should lift their forward line, but can he keep his hands to himself. For only a youngster, he can’t seem to stop throwing punches and cool his hot head. The Lions need to do something to get them out of their sticky predicament, and who better to beat than the team that put them there. The Bombers victory over the Magpies gave them the extra four points that sent the Lions to 16th and they’ll be none too happy. Can they get pay back? Prediction-Brisbane
West Coast vs. Sydney

The Eagles are one of two teams who are so far unbeaten and have been predicted to be premiership favourites. They are the ‘up and coming’ and snuck up on everyone last season with some superb form. They aren’t doing too badly with injuries, unlike their opponents, who will be missing more than their fair share of players and will be weak in the middle. If they can win from the ruck, and move the ball with accuracy through the midfield and get it to their forwards, they should be able to get a win over the injury troubled Swans. Prediction-West Coast
Geelong vs. Western Bulldogs

Geelong seems to have recovered from its hiccuping start to the season after overcoming the reigning premiers at home to move to 3-2. They have little to no injury worries and have sorted out their issues through the midfield and forward line. They have some good options with goal kickers and some tough men in the middle. The Dogs were able to pull off a good win last round and will be using that to enhance their form and put in a good fight. Will it be enough to stop the Cats? Prediction-Geelong
Collingwood vs. St Kilda

The Magpies will be working hard this week as they come up against the ever-improving Saints on Sunday afternoon. Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse will be celebrating his 500th game as a senior coach this weekend and his side will want to make it memorable. Unfortunately they are still missing Nathan Buckley and Anthony Rocca, but hopefully will regain Guy Richards and Josh Fraser who are yet to take the field in 2005. The Saints are also missing their captain Nick Riewoldt who will probably miss another week with his collarbone injury. The Pies have an added incentive to win for their coach, but they are yet to prove their worth this season. Prediction-St Kilda
Richmond vs. Port Adelaide
